Education Ministry Trains Exam Officers, Others On Computerised Continuous Assessment Scores System

ASABA/Nigeria: In a bid to curb  unnecessary human errors and enhance accuracy   in the computation of students’  examination results  by teachers, the Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has organised a one day training workshop for examination officers drawn from the various public schools in the state and other education stakeholders in the ministry.

The workshop which held simultaneously in Asaba, , Oshimili South, Ughelli, in Ughelli North and Warri, in Warri South  Local Government Areas respectively focused on the Computerised Continuous Assessment Scores System for public secondary school teachers in the state.

Declaring the workshop open, Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Patrick Ukah said that in line with the dynamism of the society, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become the other of the day.

Ukah, who noted that secondary schools in the past was finding it difficult to generate results for a large number of students, stated that manual processing of students’ results was very tedious,  time consuming as well as contributed to issues of missing scores.

He commended the State Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa for employing the services of Bronzebit Consult in terms of provision of online result to all students in public secondary schools in the state.

While saying that the computerised results processing system would ensure speed in delivering the result  and ease processing , Mr. Ukah said that computing trends would ensure cost digital storage of information, rapid transmission of data across computer networks and processing of electronic document and information.

The Basic and Secondary Education Commissioner, who enjoined participants to take the training seriously, urged them to replicate the initiative to their colleagues by training them.
