WARRI/Nigeria: A non Political group known as the “Egbema Interest Political Congress” (EIPC) in Egbema Community, Warri-North local government Area of
Delta State, have decried the total neglect, marginalization, under-development, lack of empowerment and the untold hardship of their people.
The chairman of the group Chief (Hon) Godfrey Ukulor who addressed
journalists at Egbema Community, said since the beginning of democracy
till date they have been completely neglected and shutout of civilization.
They appealed to all relevant government agencies including oil companies, DESOPADEC, NDDC etc, to come to their aid before they go out of existence as a result of the unbearable condition they have found themselves.
Egbema people also called on the governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to visit the area to see things for himself, explaining that their community has many flow stations and oil installations which include Opuama flow station, Opuekeba oil field, Dibi field, Dabiotubu field and lots of others in Egbema.
The community added that they also lack basic social amenities such as
good pipe borne water, educational facilities for children, electricity, road etc.
