EGBEMA/Nigeria: Egbema youths under the leadership of Comrade Miyenpirigha Messiah Ebidouwei has commended the peaceful resolution reached between the Itsekiri’s and Ijaw’s PDP Warri North leadership on the Chairmanship power tussle sharing  in Warri north local government area of Delta State.

They all agreed that Egbema Ijaw people should produce the Chairman for the upcoming election.

“We want to use this medium to plead with our Itsekiri national leaders in different political parties to withdraw their Chairmanship candidates for the spirit of brotherhood in the local government area. Itsekiri had held the position of the Chairman since the creation of the local government but the Ijaws in Warri North accept this detrimental act as sacrifices in order to maintain stable relationship and peace in the region. However, some of the Itsekiri our brother has echoed this repugnant act for almost 3 decades towards the Ijaws as a political weapon and political advantage”

He noted that Egbema youth progressive foundation (EYPF) is poise to inform their National leaders (Ijaws leaders) not to accept the vice Chairman in the council this tenure and also to the Itsekiri national leaders not to present Ijaws for vice Chairman as usual business of the day or tenure for whatever reason and if anybody breach this agreement, the State and federal governments should take note that the youths in both ethnic groups are not the cause of any feud which may be degenerate in the future due to this effect.

Comrade Ebidouwei appealed that the position of the Chairman of the local government council and other positions in the LGA should be rotational because it’s already documented in the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria that if there are more than one ethnic groups in a region the positions should be shared equally  among them, noting that as restructuring song has been echoed all over the country Warri North local government council leadership structure should not be exempted.

The Egbema Youth Progressive Foundation leader appealed to their Itsekiri brothers and sisters to allow and support them to produce the Chairman of Warri North LGA in order for equity and more progress to be attracted to the council.

He noted that the Ijaws are peace loving people, hence the primary reason “the Egbema Ijaws in Warri North remain silence and keep on smiling in pain and agony due to the political, educational, economic and social deprivation and humiliation”.

He pointed out that (EYPF) Egbema people need redress of their educational, social and political embargo in the local government area and as such the state and federal government should take note and intervene to their worries.

They are also urging  aspirants for political position from the hierarchy of political offices to go down to the remote villages in order to know the basic and alarming problems these set of citizens are prone to in their kingdom. “We shall withhold our franchise for those who do not have the interest of our people this time so be informed”.

While urging the oil Companies in Egbema territory to as a matter of urgency increase the skill employment, scholarship programs and other incentives to the people.

The Oil producing communities in Egbema kingdom are facing terrible challenges of social and economic degradation daily due to the hazardous particles emission during gas flare and the oil they are draining from the soil. The measures set up for environment protection are mostly been effective in the primary location of the companies thus, every distance places oil exploration has affected and continuously affecting is been ignored as a secondary concern. The state and federal government should please call the multinational oil Companies to order concerning this effect.

“Meanwhile, our people need empowerment, employment, quality education and development. The aforementioned things will help eliminate unwanted and unlawful activities in every region”.

The Egbema youth leader, Comrade Ebidouwei  used this opportunity to appeal to all public and private agencies that are in position  to develop our communities and empower our people to sustain the existing peace in the region and include Egbema kingdom in their developmental  programmes for  tranquility and sustainable peace and  development.
