ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated Muslim faithful in Delta State and across Nigeria on the celebration of this year’s Eid al-Adha (Eid-el-Kabir), calling on them to offer fervent prayers for peace, national unity and sustainable development in the country.
The Governor, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, urged Muslims to reflect on the enduring values of sacrifice, compassion, obedience and selflessness which the Eid-el-Kabir celebration represents.
Oborevwori stressed the need for adherents of the Islamic faith to sustain the spirit of charity and almsgiving during the festive period, especially by extending support to the poor, vulnerable and less privileged members of society.
According to him, charity remains one of the cardinal teachings of Islam and should be strengthened as a means of promoting love, social harmony and collective responsibility.
The Governor also called on Nigerians to remain committed to serving humanity through acts of sacrifice and devotion, encouraging citizens to use their time, resources and talents in support of one another, particularly in the face of prevailing socio-economic challenges.
He further underscored the importance of peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths and backgrounds, urging citizens to continue to promote tolerance, understanding and unity during the celebration and beyond.
Oborevwori expressed optimism that Nigeria would continue to record progress in peace, security and national development through collective commitment, prayers and patriotism.
He wished Muslim faithful a peaceful, joyful and spiritually rewarding Eid-el-Kabir celebration and urged them to celebrate responsibly while upholding the values of faith, sacrifice and love for humanity.
