ISELE-UKU/Nigeria: The immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Elumelu was declared winner by the APC Delta State Returning Officer, Chief Val Areyinka, at the party’s central collation centre located at the Oshimili South Local Government Event Centre in Asaba, following the conclusion of the direct primary election conducted across the 42 wards in the four local government areas that make up the constituency.
The exercise, which was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies, officially produced Elumelu as the APC flag bearer for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives for the 2027 general elections.
In his acceptance speech shortly after his declaration, Elumelu expressed profound gratitude to leaders, stakeholders, and members of the APC for what he described as the confidence reposed in him to once again represent the constituency at the National Assembly.
“It is with utmost humility and gratitude that I address distinguished leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) for nominating me to fly the flag of the APC for re-election to represent the good people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections,” he stated.
The former Minority Leader thanked God for the opportunity to continue serving the people and also appreciated members of his family, particularly his elder brother, Dr. Tony Elumelu, for their support and encouragement throughout the political process.
Elumelu also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as purposeful leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the administration had strengthened the APC across the country.
He equally praised Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, for the implementation of the MORE Agenda, which he said had repositioned Delta State politically and developmentally while boosting support for the APC across the state.
The APC candidate further appreciated former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, members of the APC National Working Committee, Delta State Working Committee, and members of the Ndudi Elumelu Campaign Council led by Dr. Darlington Ijeh for their commitment and support.
According to Elumelu, his emergence in the primary election reflects the desire of the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency for what he described as a return to impactful and result-oriented representation at the House of Representatives.
He recalled that during his previous tenure in the National Assembly, the constituency witnessed several developmental projects and empowerment initiatives in critical sectors such as education, agriculture, healthcare, road infrastructure, electricity, and housing.
“Our people cannot wait to return to that era when the voice of our Constituency reverberated in the House of Representatives,” he said.
Describing the APC ticket as a “unity ticket,” Elumelu stressed that the people of Aniocha/Oshimili had once again demonstrated their ability to rise above political divisions and speak with one voice in pursuit of collective progress.
He assured constituents that his return to the National Assembly would provide stronger visibility, greater access, and more effective representation for the federal constituency.
“With me as a ranking member, our Constituency will have a stronger visibility, stronger connection and stronger voice in the House of Representatives,” Elumelu stated.
The former lawmaker disclosed that he had already mapped out strategies aimed at attracting more federal projects, employment opportunities, and empowerment programmes to the constituency if elected in 2027.
He, however, called on party members to remain united and committed to the collective success of the APC ahead of the general elections.
Elumelu also appealed to other aspirants, particularly Hon. Ngozi Lawrence Okolie, as well as aggrieved party members, to embrace sportsmanship and support the APC in the overall interest of the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.
