OREROKPE/Nigeria: The chairman of Okpe Local Government Council, Chief John Jessa Scott, has called on the indigenes of Okpe and Delta to embrace Peace and national reconciliation as the world has now become a global village.
Chief Jessa Scott said this during the 2019 celebrations of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration which was held at the local government cenotaph in Orerokpe, headquarters of Okpe Local Government Area.
The chairman who was represented by the deputy leader of the legislative arm of Okpe Local Government Council, Hon Akpos Ogheneta Okeh, urged all to pray for the souls of our fallen heroes and the courage of those left behind to bear the loss of their loved ones.
He said that the fallen heroes laid down their lives selflessly in their beliefs that those of us alive would remember and maintain the cause for which they fought for.
He emphasized that the peace and unity which the soldiers spilled their blood for could not elude us if we fail to uphold the ideals and principles which in he process of actualization many of them paid the supreme sacrifice of death.
A prayer session was held for the repose of the souls of the departed soldiers, retired and disabled soldiers.
The highlight of the occasion was the laying of wreath by the council’s chairman, the Chairman, Nigerian legion Okpe Local Government Area, the Divisional Police Officer, the Orodje of Okpe, High Court judge, Christian Association Chairman Okpe chapter and the Chief Imam of Orerokpe Mosque.
