Emetulu Calls for Greater Participation of Young Women in Politics, Community Development

KWALE/Nigeria: The member representing Ndokwa West Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Charles Emetulu, has called on young women to take a more active role in politics and contribute to the development of their communities.

Emetulu made the call while chairing the inauguration of the Girlchild Ambassadors, a political support group of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area.

The lawmaker described the initiative as a demonstration of gender sensitivity and a commitment to strengthening women’s participation in political activities.

He said the programme also aligned with efforts to promote girl-child education and empowerment, noting that investing in young women’s development would contribute to broader societal progress.

The inauguration brought together political stakeholders and supporters of the APC, with speakers highlighting the importance of encouraging women to pursue leadership opportunities and remain engaged in community affairs.

The convener of the group and Managing Director of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Festus Ochonogor, said the initiative was established to train, empower and encourage young women to participate in politics and leadership.

Ochonogor disclosed that the beneficiaries had received training and support before the formal inauguration. He urged them to take advantage of government programmes designed to benefit women and the girl-child.

In their goodwill messages, the member representing Ika North East Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Marilyn Daramola; Chairman of Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Chief Obi Nzete; and Chairman of the APC in Delta North, Chief Dan Ossai, encouraged the women to remain committed to their political aspirations and support for the party.

Earlier, the President of the Girlchild Ambassadors, Comrade Vivian Omede, commended Ochonogor for promoting women’s participation in politics and pledged the group’s continued support for the APC.
