ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State is set to host the highly anticipated “The Power of HER” Conference on October 18th, 2024, featuring an impressive lineup of speakers from the public, private, and non-governmental sectors.
The conference, spearheaded by Miss Miracle Arimobi, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Female Youths, aims to empower women and promote leadership across diverse fields. Key topics will include governance, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and grassroots development.
Dr. Kingsley Emu, Secretary to the Delta State Government, will headline the event. With over two decades in the private sector and extensive public service experience, including his roles as Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Economic Planning, and Chief Economic Adviser, Dr. Emu brings a wealth of knowledge to the conference.
His insights on leadership and governance, coupled with his background in banking, financial consulting, and policy formulation, promise to add significant depth to discussions on fostering development and economic growth in Nigeria.
Also speaking is Dr. Linus Okorie, the Founder of the GOTNI Leadership Centre. A renowned leadership expert with more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Okorie has influenced thousands of leaders across Nigeria. His expertise in governance and corporate leadership will offer participants invaluable tools to enhance their leadership journey, making him a key contributor to the conference’s aims.
Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, General Manager of the Lagos State Office of Disability Affairs (LASODA), will also deliver a keynote address. A lawyer, emotional intelligence coach, and disability rights advocate, Oyetunde-Lawal has championed inclusion and equality for persons with disabilities. Her work as a Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Persons with Disabilities underscores her commitment to advancing equal opportunities for all, and her voice will be crucial in promoting inclusive governance.
Chief Shimite Love, Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export, will share her insights into economic development and entrepreneurship. Known for her leadership in Nano, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development (NMSMMED), Chief Shimite has created jobs and empowered women and youths across various sectors, including agriculture and ICT. Her innovative approach to socio-economic growth has positioned her as a key figure in Delta State’s development efforts.
The conference will also feature Honourable Orode Meyiwa Uduaghan, Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services, and Girl Child Development. As the founder of the Pink Pearl Foundation, Uduaghan has been a leading advocate for breast and cervical cancer awareness in Africa. Her journey as an entrepreneur and health advocate has impacted over 1.4 million women, making her contributions to women’s empowerment a major highlight of the event.
Hon. Marilyn Okowa-Daramola, a legislator representing Ika North-East Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, will add to the conference’s depth with her advocacy for the empowerment of the girl child. As a champion for child rights and disability legislation, Okowa-Daramola has made significant strides in supporting underprivileged families, aligning with the conference’s mission of fostering empowerment and inclusion.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has expressed his enthusiasm for the calibre of speakers, highlighting the alignment of the conference with his administration’s priorities of uplifting women and youth through inclusive governance.
