OBIARUKU/Nigeria: Members of the All Progressive Congress, APC, had been called to put party aside on the ongoing #Endsars protests youth had been going on in the country.
In a statement made available to Ndokwa Reporters, a chieftain of the Party in Ukwuani Local Government Area, Mr. Chidi Uwabuofu, and an ardent supporter of the President Muhammadu Buhari, said he can no longer remain silent in the name of party.
In the statement, in which he titled, “Let’s Call a Spade A Spade, Nigeria Illness Has Reached A Boiling Point”, he said that the recent killings, and abuse of human rights of unarmed protesting Nigerians by men of the Nigerian Military, calls for concern, saying that the country has no listening president.”
“With the killings, shootings, and palpable abuse of the fundamental human rights of unarmed protesting Nigerians by some insensitive Nigerian soldiers in Lagos and other parts of the country, and the blatant desertion of Nigeria by Mr. Buhari, as a progressive Nigerian, I cannot in all conscience remain silent anymore as I call on all the members of my political party, the All Progressive Congress to put off their partisan lenses and call a spade a spade”
“Nigeria has no listening president. Because we don’t have a listening president, Nigeria’s illness has reached a boiling point.”
“When we, Nigerians needed real leadership from Buhari, the office of the president stood vacant. A president who has never shown any inclination or ability to soothe or console in moments of crisis, is that one a president?” he asked.
“The Federal Government under Buhari has not shown enough dynamism and foresight towards addressing serious issues affecting our country, and I am deeply saddened because I am one of those people who helped install him.”
“I didn’t know that things are going to be this bad when I vigorously campaigned for this government in 2019. Buhari is not committed to changing Nigeria.”
“Therefore, he should resign immediately. His continued stay in office is a threat to our nascent democracy and a threat to the unity of this country.”
“Our country finds itself leaderless at the state and local government levels. In fact, we might be better off without all our representatives at the top and bottom. All of our representatives at all levels of government should resign too let us write a new script for Nigeria.”
