ASABA/Nigeria: The outgone State Commissioner for Transport, Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana has charged mechanical engineers to always strive to be the best in their profession.
Ganagana gave the charge when the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Asaba Chapter gave him a meritorious award for the advancement of the engineering profession in Nigeria.
Ganagana was amongst other awardees at the Biennial General Meeting of the body, held in Asaba recently with the theme: Maintenance; Key to Improved Engineering Service Delivery in Nigeria.
The former commissioner, who was represented by Eddy Eyenanatu, a Director in the Ministry of Energy, stated that it was paramount to “be at your best at all times in any chosen career.”
Ganagana enjoined members of body to always enthrone expertise in the discharge of their duties.
He reiterated that the award given him would spur him to work harder and ensure that humanity was given adequate attention and support.
Awards of honour were given to numerous deserving individuals that cut across professionals from all endeavours of life.
The awardees commended the Institution of Mechanical Engineers for recognizing them as well as the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Asaba Branch for their show of solidarity.
At the technical session of the meeting, which was a prelude to the Award/Dinner ceremony, a technical paper was presented by Mr Godwin Iweka (MNSE), to the delight of dignitaries that came from all walks of life.
The Chairman of Nigeria Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Asaba Chapter, Mr Kingsley Itimi (MNSE), commended the National Chairman of the institute, Mrs Olufumilade Akingbagbohun and Mr Christopher Ayidu, Chairman NSE, Asaba Branch amongst other dignitaries for gracing the ceremony.
