WARRI/Nigeria: In a significant move towards socio-economic development, Eric Igban Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has enrolled 78 indigenes of Ugborodo community for its 2024 Skills Acquisition Programme.
Dr. Andrew Omagbemi Igban, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, announced that the intensive training session will take place in Ugborodo town, Warri South West local government area.
Highlighting the Foundation’s commitment to meaningful engagement, Dr. Igban stated that the organization has made remarkable strides in various areas, including education, community health, environmental cleanliness, economic growth, youth and women empowerment, as well as sustainable development. He emphasized the importance of initiatives such as the Foundation’s Scholarship Scheme, benefiting hundreds of indigent citizens, and the promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

“This program is the first initiative of Eric Igban Foundation for the year 2024. The skills acquisition program is aimed at developing and empowering women and youths in our communities,” said Dr. Igban, underscoring the organization’s dedication to literacy programs and healthcare sustainability.
Dr. Igban introduced a team of experts for the training program and urged participants to be dedicated and committed to skills development, which includes Baking, Makeup Artistry, and Headgear tying. He clarified that the foundation is apolitical and was established in memory of his beloved elder brother, Eric Igban, who was passionate about the development of Ugborodo community.
Expressing gratitude, beneficiaries and community leaders commended the Foundation for its sustained interest in the community’s well-being. They acknowledged the challenges faced by the oil-rich Ugborodo community and praised efforts, particularly by Dr. Andrew Igban, to change the narrative and address neglect.
As a gesture of support, the Foundation distributed gift items to pregnant and nursing mothers during the event, reaffirming its commitment to the holistic well-being of the Ugborodo community.
