ISIOKOLO/Nigeria: The Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Augustine Ogedegbe, has dismissed recent allegations trending on social media that he threatened the life of one Mr. Vincent E. Aki, popularly known as Aproko.
In one of the viral videos, Mr. Aki alleged that the council chairman had sent emissaries to intimidate his family, warning him to stop making critical videos or face severe consequences. Aki claimed he was being targeted for expressing dissatisfaction with the pace of governance in the council, stating that since posting his videos, he had been forced to stay away from home out of fear for his life. He further called on Nigerians and the international community to hold the Ethiope East council, the Delta State Government, and the Ovu community responsible should anything happen to him.
Responding through the Chief Press Secretary of the council, Mr. Ofua Experience, Ogedegbe described the allegations as false, malicious, and part of a calculated attempt to smear the image of his administration. Ofua maintained that the claims were without evidence and should be disregarded by the public.
He stressed that Ogedegbe has consistently upheld democratic ideals, respected citizens’ rights to free speech, and encouraged constructive criticism of government policies. “The administration of Chief Ogedegbe remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the dignity of all citizens,” Ofua stated, urging the public to shun campaigns of calumny and work together to achieve Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE agenda.
