Expedite Action On Projects, Commissioner Charges Contractors

ASABA/Nigeria: The Commissioner for Urban Renewal, Chief Julius Takeme has charged contractors handling projects with the Ministry to expedite action on projects in their hands to meet up with target time.

The newly appointed Commissioner who gave the charge today during a meeting with the contractors in Asaba stated that the meeting was to familiarize with the contractors and to rub mind on how to make progress on contract execution.

According to Chief Takeme, “This meeting was convened to know our challenges and chart way forward.”

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Urban Renewal, Sir David Onokpe had briefed the Commissioner on the various road projects under the Ministry, saying that some of the projects had been completed while others were ongoing.

Some of the contractors present at the meeting had stated that the present flood in the state and payment had been the hindrance to mobilizing to site, even as they appealed to the state government to expedite action on payment so that they could mobilize to site.

Some of the projects under construction are NCC Road, Ugbolu, Oshimili North LGA; Obotobo I & II Road, Burutu LGA; Obi Okputa Phase IIl in Abor; Orereokpe Road in Okpe Local Government Area among others.
