Expert Proffers Measures To Check Global Warming

WARRI/Nigeria: As the world faces global warming, an advocate of eco- friendly climate and environment, Mr Made Alana, has advised government and industrialists against dependence on fossil fuel.

An environmentalist and mechanical engineer, Mr Alaba, who gave the advice when he visited Delta Broadcasting Service, DBS, Warri, noted that fossil fuel was a non-renewable energy responsible for the earth’s mass weight loss, and posed great threat to human existence.

Alaba stressed the need for government at all levels to explore alternative means to feed high consuming industries.

He maintained that the world was undergoing a major shock due to the wanton destruction of its physical make-up, given the environmental hazard across Europe through Asia and Africa.

The environmentalist also suggested that world leaders must cut down on fossil fuel and redirect one of the world’s highest energy consumers, the aviation industry, to seek alternatives, adding that other energy sources such as water, wind, electricity and sound energy should be tapped into.

He called on Nigeria to toe the line of the United States whose senate recently passed a climate action bill, an investment in the tune of three hundred and sixty nine billion dollars.

The action plan is estimated to cut carbon emission by 40 percent by 2030.

The world is daily faced with resultant effect of climate change, an irregular occurrence swiping the length and breadth of the world.

Experts say the negative impact of this phenomenon is a direct consequence of indiscriminate deforestation, ever increasing urbanisation of towns and cities, as well as huge dependence of fossil fuel by industries, including the aviation industry, mechanical and chemical institutions.
