PORT HARCOURT/Nigeria: APC chieftain and former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New PDP, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has launched a blistering attack on Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, warning him to stop acting like a political godfather and desist from ridiculing former Transportation Minister, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.
Eze, in a strongly worded statement issued in Port Harcourt on Friday, accused Wike of arrogance, vendetta, and self-delusion, insisting that the FCT Minister lacks the political weight or structure to “retire” Amaechi from politics.
“But one thing is certain: Wike cannot retire Amaechi from politics,” Eze declared. “The FCT Minister lacks the clout, sagacity, and effrontery to decide Amaechi’s fate. Amaechi will return to power with other democrats and progressives.”
Eze advised Wike to stop “playing God,” reminding him that only divine providence determines political destiny. “You can hate, antagonize, and blackmail Amaechi—a man who moulded your political career—but you cannot question God’s purpose in his life,” he stated.
The APC stalwart said Wike’s recent verbal attack on Amaechi during a public event in Abuja, where he mocked the ex-governor’s presidential ambition, was in poor taste and symptomatic of a man “drunk on power and consumed by personal vendetta.”
“If Wike were a giver of life, anyone not under his control would surely be dead. He talks with inflated ego, as if next to God, and insults perceived threats with reckless audacity,” Eze fumed.
He cautioned that Amaechi’s role in the emerging 2027 coalition to challenge the APC is not a solo mission. “Singling out Amaechi for ridicule makes no strategic or political sense,” he said.
Eze also accused Wike of being obsessed with destroying Amaechi’s image and derailing opposition coalitions, warning that such actions would only backfire. “We’ve studied his rigging tactics. Come 2027, we’ll deal with him politically,” he vowed.
The APC chieftain claimed that Wike’s “embarrassing outing” on Channels TV’s Politics Today further exposed him as a man without substance. “No sound Nigerian will take him seriously anymore,” Eze added.
Criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Eze said the government’s failure to tackle insecurity and economic hardship would cost the APC dearly. “Just like Amaechi said, Tinubu has disappointed Nigerians. He may be successful in many areas, but he’s shown he is not a good leader,” he said.
Eze warned that the ghost of the proposed emergency rule in Rivers State still haunts Tinubu and Wike, whom he described as “anti-democratic elements.”
“Rivers people are waiting for them in 2027. The compromised INEC and judiciary won’t save APC this time,” he said.
He concluded by urging Wike to “close his mouth” and stop playing God, stating, “You don’t know God’s plan for Amaechi’s life. History is watching.”
