WARRI/Nigeria: The Representative of the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, has called for sustained dialogue, intellectual engagement and active citizen participation as critical instruments for rebuilding political representation and fast-tracking development in Ndokwa Nation.
Ezechi made the call while speaking at the Association of Ndokwa Professionals in Academia (ANPA) Lecture Series, where scholars, professionals and political actors converged to examine leadership challenges and development prospects in the constituency.
Joining the session virtually from Abuja, the federal lawmaker commended the organisers for providing what he described as a rare and valuable platform that allows frank interaction between academics, professionals and public office holders. He said initiatives such as the ANPA Lecture Series were essential for closing the widening gap between governance and the governed, stressing that effective representation thrives on continuous feedback, research support and informed public criticism.
The lawmaker acknowledged the frustration expressed by participants over leadership failures and political alienation in the area, assuring that such concerns would not be swept aside. While carefully avoiding partisan language, he said Ndokwa’s challenges could only be addressed through collective responsibility, deliberate recruitment of credible leaders and sustained engagement between elected officials and their constituents.
“Democracy works best when the people speak and their representatives listen,” Ezechi said. “Constructive criticism and informed contributions such as we have heard today help us to do better as leaders and public servants.”
He pledged to work closely with professionals, scholars and community leaders to translate ideas generated from the forum into concrete policy proposals and constituency-based interventions. According to him, inclusive politics, mentorship and accountability must form the bedrock of future leadership in Ndokwa Nation if the area is to record meaningful progress.
Ezechi expressed optimism that with continued dialogue and cooperation, Ndokwa Nation could reposition itself for stronger representation and more visible development ahead of the 2027 general elections, adding that platforms such as ANPA’s lecture series would remain vital in shaping a more responsive and people-centred political culture.
