AGBOR/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu has pledged Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education collaboration with the Rotary Club of Agbor District 9141 in her resolve to carry out a capacity-building programme on computer skills and knowledge.
Mrs. Ezewu gave the assurances in her office in Asaba when the Rotary Club of Agbor District 9141 paid her a courtesy call.
She said that the computer skills and knowledge for students were important, adding that the gesture would impact positively on their work.
Mrs. Ezewu urged the Rotary club to ensure that out of the targeted 25 participants to be selected after assessment to know whether it was meant for secondary school students or their counterparts in tertiary institutions in the state, they should incorporate students in secondary schools.
The Secondary Education Commissioner recalled that the Teachers Professional Development Centre (TPDC), Owa-Oyibu in Ika North East Local Government Area had continuously been used as a veritable platform for the training of teachers in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Rtn. Patrick Osemiha said that the capacity building was aimed at advancing the knowledge base of teachers in computer skills.
Rtn. Osemiha said that important software would be installed on their laptops, adding that the proposed training would last for three days.
In the presentation on 3D printing industry technology application, Rtn. Osemiha underscored the benefits of the software.
Speaking further, he said that 3D printing technologies were being used for a host of different applications, adding that the technologies were being utilised to make patterns for the downstream metal casting of dental crowns.
