WARRI/Nigeria: On the looming anniversary of his son’s tragic passing, Mr. Sylvester Oromoni, father of the late 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni Jr., remains resolute in his pursuit of justice, determined to see the case through to a decisive end.
November 30, 2023, marks the sorrowful two-year milestone since young Sylvester’s untimely demise, shrouded in controversy and grievance. The heart-wrenching incident unfolded at Dowen College, Lekki, where the boy reportedly faced brutal treatment allegedly at the hands of five senior students.
Sylvester Oromoni Jr. tragically succumbed on November 30, 2021, following severe health complications that arose during his schooling, eventually leading to his demise at a private hospital in Warri, Delta State. Reports suggest he suffered physical assault and was forcibly administered a hazardous substance, sparking outcry and demands for justice from his grieving family.
“I am compelled to take this step as a means of seeking justice,” expressed Mr. Oromoni, unwavering in his pursuit. “I promised my son justice, even if it takes thirty years.”
The bereaved father’s determination echoes the prolonged agony endured by the family, with Sylvester’s remains yet to find a final resting place, lingering in a morgue for two years. The quest for justice remains an unyielding force, fuelled by a father’s promise to honor his son’s memory.
