Femi Ajiniran emerges Champion  in 3rd SKG Golf Tournament at Ibori Golf and Country Club

ASABA/Nigeria: In a stunning display of golfing prowess, Femi Ajiniran has emerged as the champion of the third edition of the Sunday Kitty Group (SKG) Golf Tournament hosted at the Ibori Golf and Country Club (IGCC) in Asaba, the capital of Delta State.

Ajiniran’s remarkable performance saw him clinch the top position in the Net Men SKG category, driving in a commendable 67 Nett score, surpassing competitors Gibson Lee and Kingsley Osagbobu, who secured the second and third positions, respectively.

The tournament drew more than eighty golfers, hailing from both within and beyond Delta State, showcasing their skills and enthusiasm for the sport. Charles Okoh’s superb performance earned him the coveted top prize in the Gross Men SKG category, as he fired an impressive 77 Gross, outpacing rivals Sifo Oniti and Awele, who settled for second and third place.

In the Ladies division, Igho Ugbegu shone brightly, claiming the top prize in the Ladies Best Gross SKG category with a score of 93 Gross. Meanwhile, Chika Okorodudu secured the top position in the Ladies Net SKG category with a swing that yielded a remarkable 73 Net.

The event also saw Mrs. Phil Obanor clinching the Ladies Guest trophy with an 88 Net, while Retired Wing Commander Peter Iweze’s score of 72 Net earned him the Guest Men category’s top prize.

Dr. Chuks Nwani, the Vice Captain of the Ibori Golf and Country Club and Chairman of the 3rd Edition of the SKG Kitty, emphasized the tournament’s purpose in promoting golf and fostering camaraderie among golfers. The ceremonial Tee-Off was taken by Dr. Nwani, alongside Chief Patrick Ukah, the Director General of the Delta Capital Development Agency, underscoring the event’s significance in advancing the game of golf within the IGCC.

Dr. Nwani asserted that the tournament’s success would contribute to creating a competitive yet friendly atmosphere for golfers. Other members of the IGCC expressed their appreciation for the SKG’s role in elevating the standard of golf at the IGCC and encouraged the group to maintain this momentum, which would aid in further honing their skills, especially when competing against golfers from other clubs across the nation.

Participants highlighted the 2023 edition of the tournament as a resounding success, aligning with the SKG’s aspirations to provide golfers with a platform to unwind and compete. The event culminated in an exciting prize presentation ceremony, with winners and well-wishers of the IGCC in Asaba receiving souvenirs to commemorate a memorable day of golf.
