ASABA/Nigeria: The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development has inaugurated the 3000 Stream Two Independent Monitors of the National Social Investment Program in Delta State.
The Minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq, made this known in Asaba, where she noted that the inspectors would be responsible for monitoring the program in schools, households and market clusters across the state.
The inspectors received training and working tools for the task ahead.
Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq said the event in Delta State is an offshoot of the inauguration of the second batch of 3000 stream 2 independent monitors in Abuja last month.
The Minister who was represented by the NSIP Team lead in the state, Margret Chuka Ogude, described the Independent monitors as the most important component of the National Social Investment Program.
“Our stream one Monitors have been uploading their reports on a daily basis, and this gives us good visibility into the program Implementation at the various communities. The incoming Stream 2, are expected to continue using the same platform to report their activities from the field.” She noted.
Delta State Director of Humanitarian Services Mrs. Thecla Agama, urge the Inspectors to be forthright in carrying out the assignment in service to the state and nation.
“To stand for the truth, that is exactly what you have been called to do, to say it the way it is.”
An Independent Monitor of the Social Investment Program Emmanuel Mokolu, spoke on their responsibility and drive to achieve the mandate of the ministry.
“Whatever information we are getting from the field determine how well the government can move, if they put it to use.”
The South South Zonal Consultant of the NSIP, Fajana Adetubosun and the N-Power Program Manager in the area Aggrey Henry, gave goodwill messages at the event.
The climax of the occasion was the presentation of Certificate of participation and working tools to the Independent monitors including tablets for data collection and feedback.
