FG Should Dialogue with NDA-Igbuya

IgbuyaThe Federal Government of Nigeria has been called upon to dialogue with the Niger Delta Avengers, a militant group which of recent had carried out activities against oil production activities in the Niger Delta region of the country.

The call was made by the speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya during the first anniversary of the 6th session of the state Assembly, on Wednesday, 8 June, 2016.

Hon Igbuya, who said the 6th Assembly had achieved a great success during the year, said that the revenue of the state had gone down as a result of the activities of the NDA, as the oil production had reduced significantly, thus affecting the monthly allocation to the state.

“The Last Federation Allocation was 3.4 billion naira, this is a far cry from the previous allocation, and this is all due to the activities of the NDA”. He said.

The speaker, said that because of the negative effects of the activities of the NDA, it will be wise for the federal government of Nigeria to put in place a machinery that will lead to formal discussion with the militant group.

Meanwhile, the speaker said the assembly has a primary duty to make law for the good governance of the state, and in the year going the assembly has recorded tremendous achievements, and thus a total number of

  1.  Twenty-three bills (23), out of which, ten (10) have been passed into law;
  2. A total of fifty-three (53) motions were received and fifty two (52) approved;
  3. Eighteen (18) reports have so far been received and adopted; and
  4. A number of other issues are before different committees for consideration.

The speaker, who said the 6th assembly is striving to surpass the achievements of the 5th assembly, called on Deltans to bear with the present government of the state.
