WARRI/Nigeria: The joy of the celebration of the last St Valentine Day was not experienced by some residents of a compound in Ginuwa Road, Warri as their properties were razed to aches by an inferno that occurred in the early hours of the lovers day.
The cause of the fire outbreak was not immediate known but it was alleged that the fire stated from the house of a female tenant and a popular black marketer of fuel who is alleged to be on the run after the fire disaster.
It was gathered that it took the combine efforts of men of the Delta State Fire Service and gallant residents of the area to put the raging fire under control and spreading to neighbouring compounds .
It would be recalled that the shameless activities of black marketers of fuel have been a source of concern to genuine consumers of the petroleum product in Warri as they usually besieged filling stations with all kinds and sizes of jerry cans, causing avoidable queues.
Besides selling the product at very exorbitant prices they are fond of hoarding the product in their houses, thereby endangering the lives and properties of other law abiding citizens.
Comrade (Chief) Akpojotor Adjarho who spoke on the issue to our correspondent called on government and law enforcement agencies to outlaw the activities of fuel black marketers who he accused of adulterating the product to the misfortunes of consumers.
