Five Kidnapping Suspects, Including Notorious Bellow Abubakar, Killed in CP-SAT Raid in Delta State

ASABA/Nigeria: In a significant blow to kidnapping syndicates operating in the region, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) clashed with a gang of suspected kidnappers in a forest located between Issele-Asagba and Otulu, leading to the deaths of five gang members, including the notorious Bellow Abubakar. The operation, which took place on April 21, 2025, also resulted in the recovery of three AK-47 rifles, two additional firearms, and over 150 rounds of ammunition.

According to a statement from Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, the gunfight erupted when the suspects ambushed the CP-SAT team in their hideout in a forest area. However, the operatives were well-prepared for the confrontation and returned fire, forcing the gang members to scatter in different directions. The overwhelming firepower from the CP-SAT operatives proved too much for the kidnappers, who were ultimately defeated.

The raid was part of a broader investigation into the criminal activities of Abubakar and his gang, who had been terrorizing communities in Ubuluku, Issele-Asagba, and surrounding areas. Acting on reliable intelligence, the operatives first raided the gang’s primary hideout in Agu-Amawbia Forest, Anambra State. During this operation, they recovered one AK-47 rifle and 132 rounds of live ammunition.

The investigation then moved to a second suspected hideout in the forest between Issele-Asagba and Otulu, where Abubakar and his gang had set an ambush. The ensuing gun battle led to the death of five gang members, including Abubakar. They were transported to a nearby hospital but were later confirmed dead due to the severity of their injuries. Two more AK-47 rifles and 18 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered from the scene.

In the wake of the successful operation, a manhunt has been launched for other members of the gang who managed to escape with injuries. Authorities are continuing to investigate the group’s activities, with a focus on dismantling the broader kidnapping syndicate operating in the state.

This decisive operation marks a significant victory for Delta State in its ongoing battle against kidnapping and violent crime. The state government has expressed strong support for the police force’s continued efforts to protect citizens and ensure the safety and security of communities.
