WARRI/Nigeria: Most vehicle users plying the ever busy Warri/Effurun NPA Express Road got the bitter experience of traffic jam as they got stranded in a sea of water caused by flooding in the Bon Hotel to Prodeco areas while the one and half heavy down pour of Thursday June 20th 2019 lasted.
From a long distance sight, one could mistake the stranded vehicles as speed boots in a river. It was a bad day for owners of aging vehicles as their vehicles broke down in the flooded road thereby worsening the traffic hold up.
Commenting on the ugly situation, a black coloured posh jeep owner Mrs Maureen Edema noted that the flood was caused by lack of good drainage system on the road that is bounded on both sides by the Ekpan River.
While a commercial bus (kelebe) driver Comrade Joseph Esievo who spoke in the same vein, appealed to the local government council authorities to embark on a regular clearing of the drainages on both sides of the roads.
