
ONICHA-OLONA/Nigeria: Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Engr.) Victor Ochei, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing personal reflection and careful consideration for his decision.
Ochei, in a resignation letter dated May 8, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the APC, Ward 4, Onicha-Olona, announced that his resignation from the party takes immediate effect.
In the letter, the former Speaker expressed appreciation to the APC for the opportunity given to him to serve and associate with members of the party over the years.
He also thanked the leadership and members of the party at all levels for their support, cooperation and goodwill throughout his time in the APC.
“This decision was reached after careful reflection and personal consideration. I remain grateful for the opportunity given to me to serve and associate with the party over the years, as well as for the relationships and experiences gained during my membership,” Ochei stated.
The former lawmaker further noted that he appreciated the support and cooperation extended to him during his stay in the party and urged the leadership to accept the letter as his formal notice of resignation.
Although Ochei did not disclose his next political destination, his resignation is expected to generate fresh political discussions within the Delta State political landscape, especially coming amid ongoing political realignments in the state.
