Former Minority Leader Condoles Asagba Over Chief Nwaodua

ABUJA/Nigeria: Immediate Past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Chief Nwanze Nwaodua, the Odogwu of Asaba, extending his condolences to the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Obi Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN.

In a statement issued on Saturday, November 22, 2025, Elumelu described the late Chief Nwaodua as a revered high chief who exemplified unwavering loyalty to the Asagba’s Palace. He commended his deep knowledge of Asaba’s rich cultural heritage and his significant contributions toward the development of the community, noting that his demise would be deeply felt across the kingdom.

Chief Nwaodua reportedly passed away after collapsing during the 70th birthday celebration of the Asagba of Asaba. In honour of the departed chief, the Asagba announced a week-long mourning period, during which markets in Asaba were shut on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

Elumelu, who recently returned to the country after a business trip abroad, described the Odogwu’s passing as a monumental loss. He prayed to God to console the Asagba, the Nwanze Nwaodua family and the entire Asaba Kingdom, urging them to take comfort in the Lord. He also prayed for eternal rest for the soul of Chief Nwanze Nwaodua and the souls of all the faithful departed.
