EFFURUN/Nigeria: An Uvwie based Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Shammar Educational Foundation has held a one-day empowerment programme for women at Kolokolo Layout, in Enerhen, near Warri.
One of the facilitators of the programme, Dr Mrs. Onyinye Ikemefuna, explained that besides empowerment, the programme was aimed at equipping the older generation of women for the upbringing of the younger generation of women.
According to her, “Because we have seen that lot of good morals are fizzling out of the younger generations of women, so the programme is also meant to appreciate the role of women in the society”
The event, which was held recently, for women groups from churches and market both Udu and Uvwie Local Government Areas, featured skill acquisition, family building and training programmes.
The Chairamn of National Association of Proprietors of Private School (NAPPS) Uvwie Local Government Chapter, Mrs Rose Obi, the wife of the President Ohaneze Delta South and Central Mrs Ezeh were present while the Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, Hon (Mrs) Ann Divine Iniovosa was represented at the event.
High point of the event was the issuance of certificates to participants.
