LAGOS/Nigeria: The Ellen Olusola Caulcrick Foundation (EOCF) has reaffirmed its commitment to social inclusion and equality through sports with the announcement of the 2025 Unified Sports Event, scheduled to hold on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Igbobi College Sports Facility, Lagos.
The Foundation made the announcement during a press conference on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, where it unveiled plans for the annual event — a flagship initiative designed to promote unity, empathy, and understanding between children with and without disabilities.
The EOCF Unified Sports Initiative brings together young students to compete side by side in inclusive and fun-filled sporting activities such as football, basketball, races, tug-of-war, egg races, and a dance competition. More than a sporting occasion, the event serves as a powerful social platform to challenge stereotypes and foster acceptance, empathy, and teamwork among participants.
This year’s edition will feature students and coaches from over 30 schools across Lagos State, alongside parents, volunteers, media representatives, and corporate partners. All participants will receive medals, team t-shirts, gifts, and refreshments, with transport stipends provided for participating schools — a gesture that reinforces the Foundation’s inclusive approach.
Speaking at the announcement, Mr. Segun Caulcrick, Executive Director of EOCF, emphasized that the event reflects the organization’s unwavering vision of using sports as a tool for social transformation and inclusivity.
“This initiative reflects our founder’s lifelong commitment to inclusion, leveraging the unifying power of sports to demonstrate that teamwork, empathy, and shared purpose transcend physical ability,” he said. “We aim to promote a culture where inclusion is not seen as charity, but as a shared value — one that recognizes every individual’s contribution to society.”
The Foundation said the Unified Sports Event is part of its broader mission to inspire systemic change in the social perception and policy landscape affecting persons with disabilities in Nigeria.
With the 2025 edition, the EOCF continues to position itself as a leading advocate for inclusive development, using sports as a bridge for understanding and as a celebration of the human spirit in all its diversity.
