Asaba: Catholics all over the world today (15/08/16), celebrated the Feast of Assumption with Rev. Fr. John Konyeke calling on mothers not to compromise the dignity of womanhood.
Rev. Fr. Konyeke made the call in a homily during a Holy Mass to celebrate the Feast at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Asaba, Delta State.
According to Fr. Konyeke, mothers play vital roles in the family, they nurture their children and ensure peace in the family.
He stated that the Feast of Assumption was in honour of Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ whose body witnessed no corruption and was assumed into heaven.
“Mary is the mother of all Christians, she devoted her whole life to the prompting of the Holy Spirit,” Fr. Konyeke said, adding, “Mary gave birth to Jesus, who is God; Jesus assumed the nature of man so that He can return man back to God.”
He emphasised, “Mary is the mother of the Church she did not experience corruption because, God protected Mary from contracting the sin we inherited from Adam.”
The Catholic Priest urged women, mothers in particular to always carry out their actions with dignity, adding that children should always respect their parents.
