Gov. Okowa Commends NPDC/SEPLAT For Encouraging Academic Excellence

 ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, has lauded the NPDC/SEPLT Energy PLC for their contributions towards encouraging academic excellence among students as well as the growth the education industry in Delta and Edo states.

The governor made the commendation in his goodwill message at the grand finale of 10th edition of the NPDC / SEPLAT pearls competition quiz for secondary schools in Delta and Edo states

The governor who was represented by Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu described the competition as a milestone that had left a lasting impression in the minds of students, teachers and the schools through intervention in education.

He charged corporate organisations to collaborate with government to foster educational development as well as improve quality of learning, adding that there was multiplier effect of the quiz competition through increased zeal on the part of students in all the subjects.

He stated that there had been an aged long collaboration between SEPLAT and the governments of Delta and Edo states, adding that the competition had been fruitful and rewarding.

Governor Okowa, however, appreciated the organisation for the sponsorship and urged other well-meaning corporate organisations to emulate the SEPLAT initiative, saying that “education for all was a responsibly for all ” .

He , also commended the teachers who had prepared the students for the competition, noting that they had proven to be exceptional in their fields of study.

At the end of the competition, Piennial Academy,Boji Boji Owa in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State emerged winner of the quiz competition after scoring a total of 75 points to beat Pioneer Academy, Benin city, Edo State to the second position with 48 points while Igninedion Educational Academy, Benin city took the third position.
