Government Primary School, Asaba Ready For Commissioning – Says Ukah

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has expressed the readiness of the state government to commission the Government Primary School, Junior Staff Quarters in Asaba, the capital of the state.

Mr. Ukah, who gave the hint in Asaba while inspecting the completed school project, said that the facility, which would be commissioned by the State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa on Friday, March 19, 2021 was aimed at creating access to foundational education to children in the state capital.

The commissioner stated that the Okowa Administration was irrevocably committed to providing quality, affordable and accessible education in the state, adding that the contractor had delivered the job in accordance with the specifications.

He reminded teachers in the state of the urgent need to always reciprocate the state government’s gesture in the area of improving the condition of facilities in schools, including commitments to their welfare, by ensuring that they deliver effectively in the teaching and learning activities.

Similarly, Mr. Ukah visited the Government Model Secondary School, GRA, Asaba, to ascertain the level of academic activities in the school.

Speaking, Mr. Ukah urged the principal and teachers in the school to collaborate with the Parents /Teachers’ Association (PTA) to evolve ways of contributing their quotas towards sustaining the pride of the school.

He stressed on the need for consistent counselling for the children to embrace positive lifestyle, inculcate reading culture and shun negative vices at all times.

He renewed the call for the protection of school facilities, adding that any students who destroyed the chair assigned to him or her, that the parents of such student should be responsible for the replacement.
