Governor Oborevwori’s Aide, Rotary Club Donate Essential Food Items to Delta IDP Camp

EWU/Nigeria: Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Community Development, Dr. Patrick Ighomrore, in partnership with Rotary Club Effurun City Centre, District 9141, has donated essential food items to the Okuama Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp at Ewu Grammar School, Ughelli South, Delta State.

The donation included bags of rice, sacks of chicken, bags of pure water, cartons of noodles, peanuts, and milk.During the handover of the items to the camp commandant, Deacon Austin Ohwofaria, Dr. Ighomrore emphasized that the initiative was intended to bring joy and meet the dietary needs of the camp’s residents. “Rotary Club Effurun City Centre, District 9141, is deeply concerned about the welfare of the people in the IDP camp and will continue to provide assistance,” he said.

Dr. Ighomrore also reassured the camp residents of the Delta State government’s ongoing commitment to their well-being.

“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will do more to ensure you have a comfortable stay here. He is truly passionate about your wellbeing,” he added.

Deacon Ohwofaria expressed gratitude for the donation, acknowledging its significant impact.

“We are very grateful to you for this show of generosity and concern for the people in the IDP camp at this time of need. These food items will go a long way in addressing the dietary needs of the people. May God bless you,” he said.

The camp residents, both women and men, also voiced their appreciation to Dr. Ighomrore and the Rotary Club Effurun City Centre, District 9141, for their support during this critical time.

The atmosphere at the camp was filled with joy as the women danced with Dr. Ighomrore and Rotary Club members.

The Ewu IDP camp was established by the Delta State government to shelter the people of Okuama community, who were displaced following the controversial Nigerian Army invasion and demolition of their community in retaliation for the killing of 17 soldiers on March 14, 2024.

The event was attended by members of Rotary Club Effurun City Centre, District 9141, led by President Rotarian Darlington Odogu.
