Governor of Delta State is Taking Time to Appoint Competent Cabinet Members, And Not Under Any Pressure -CPS

ASABA/Nigeria: In a response to recent media report, Sir Festus Ahon, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, has clarified that the Governor is carefully selecting suitable and competent individuals to be appointed into the State Executive Council, emphasising that the Governor is not facing any external pressure, including from his predecessor, regarding the choice of cabinet members, contrary to what was wrongly reported.

The CPS stated this in a Press release on Sunday, July 2, 2023, describing the publication as a product of the writer’s imagination, while urging journalists to refrain from engaging in speculations that could incite political tensions.

He stated, “First, the State House of Assembly was constituted on June 13 and thereafter went on recess for two weeks and only reconvened on Tuesday, June 27.”

He further explained that Governor Oborevwori intends to appoint individuals who are both credible and capable, free from any bias or sentiment, to assist him in fulfilling his M.O.R.E Agenda for the people of Delta State.

Ahon vehemently declared that the report is entirely inaccurate and motivated by mischief. He made it clear that former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa does not interfere with the Governor’s appointment decisions.

The spokesman called on the people of Delta State to exercise patience and trust in the State Government’s commitment to delivering more impactful initiatives for the benefit of its citizens.
