OGWASHI-UKU/Nigeria: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, speaking at the 3rd combined convocation ceremony of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, emphasized the imperative for graduates to become job creators. Inaugurating various projects at the institution, the governor, represented by the Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, highlighted the need for graduates to apply their acquired knowledge and skills to generate employment opportunities.
The projects unveiled during the ceremony encompassed a diverse range, including a substantial capacity lecture hall, sports courts, and an ICT Microsoft Certification Centre. Addressing the graduating students, Governor Oborevwori underscored the significance of setting new objectives post-graduation, asserting that complacency was not an option.
“Your education and expertise will benefit both public and private sectors,” Governor Oborevwori stated, encouraging graduates to explore entrepreneurial avenues. He aligned this directive with the administration’s philosophy of fostering graduates with entrepreneurial prowess, urging them to pioneer opportunities for themselves and others.
Commending the institution’s strides in infrastructure, capacity building, and sports development, Governor Oborevwori applauded the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, as a rapidly advancing educational entity. He called upon the school’s leadership to sustain these advancements, pledging continuous government support to enhance learning environments across public institutions.
The Chairman of the Polytechnic’s Governing Council, Chief Jonathan Arausi, echoed the call for collaborative efforts among stakeholders, corporate entities, and the government to uphold the institution’s status as a global hub for academic excellence.
Expressing gratitude for the government’s commitment to educational growth, the Rector, Prof. Emmanuel Achuenu, acknowledged Governor Oborevwori’s dedication to advancing education within the state.
