Governor’s Aide Condemns Killing of Soldiers, Vows Justice

ASABA/Nigeria: The Executive Assistant on Communications to Delta State Governor, Dr. Latimore Oghenesivbe, has expressed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s deep sorrow over the tragic killing of sixteen soldiers on a peacekeeping mission in Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area. Oghenesivbe described the incident as unwarranted and callous, emphasizing the governor’s commitment to peace and security.

In a recent radio programme, Oghenesivbe highlighted Delta State’s longstanding peace, attributing it to the efforts of past and present administrations, especially Governor Oborevwori’s tenure, which began in May 2023. He underscored the governor’s dedication to socioeconomic and infrastructure development, which has bolstered peace and security in the state.

Oghenesivbe debunked claims from an online publication suggesting that the state government ignored warnings about the incident, asserting that Governor Oborevwori prioritizes security under his MORE agenda. He reassured the public of the government’s commitment to ensuring peaceful coexistence among ethnic groups, urging the military to ensure innocent civilians are not punished for the crimes of the perpetrators.

Regarding recent protests by Hausa/Fulani Keke/Okada riders in Asaba, Oghenesivbe, who also heads the Delta State Orientation Bureau, stated that the state government, is working with security agencies to resolve the issue. He assured citizens of Delta’s continued peace for socioeconomic activities, tourism, and investments.

Oghenesivbe concluded by emphasizing Governor Oborevwori’s determination to bring justice for the fallen soldiers and restore peace in Okuama and throughout Delta State.
