ASABA/Nigeria: A group known as Delta Prosperity Crusaders, has called the constant attack on the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa by Dr. Cairo Ojuogboh as desperate, filled with hate and jealousy for a brother.
The group who was reacting to the recent statement by the else while former Peoples Democratic Party Stalwart, and now an All Progressive Congress Chieftain, and a governorship hopeful, who over the weekend accused the state governor of mortgaging the Internally Generated Revenue, (IGR) of the state, while addressing members of APC in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government, over the weekend.
The group stated that Dr. Cairo not long went to town with the allegations of empty budget against the state government, and regard such action as an insult on the state law makers.
“Just a few months ago, the pretentious Hon Cairo had run to town with the allegations of an empty budget. For the first time, a man would singlehandedly spurn or repudiate the painstaking efforts of a whole State Legislature with only an evidence of his own copy of the budget cunningly exhumed from somewhere known only to him.”
“When Hon Cairo discovered the budget palaver didn’t fly anymore, he resorted to television showmanship dishing out answers that have perpetually remained at variance or out of tune with questions asked by the interviewers. A case in hand is his interview on Channels Television where his response and goof to the question on Local vigilante in Ika Land have remained unparalleled in recent times”.
The statement laughed at the story about the Asaba airport endorsement of the governor by the Asagba of Asaba, and the Asagba in Council, and called such reports as speculative journalism, as they asked the nascent questions,
“For the faceless Chief, who compromised him? Who forced him to embark on that tour against his will? Is he the recognised spokesman of the palace? On whose authority did he speak therefore – his, the Asagba or the palace? Ever since, has even the Palace written or spoken officially to corroborate his story”.
However, the group called the launching of the “One Man One Vote” Campaign, as hype and suspicious, as such campaign has been the norm of the government of Okowa, as he had always harped on citicenship participation in all electoral processes, as he had never hidden his acceptance of the fact that the power to choose political leaders constitutionally lies with electorates.
“As for Hon Cairo’s hyped and suspicious ‘ One Man, One Vote’ Campaign, we wish to inform him that there is nothing novelty or innovative about it”.
The statement which also dwelled with issue of $18 Million allegations, the statement challenged the APC and Dr. Cairo to go ahead and make public the evidences, as they had promised.
“On the issue of $18 Million which Hon Cairo alleges is about to be siphoned, we do not wish to give him the leisure of any reply. As far as we are concerned, such allegations are still in the realms of speculation until he proves otherwise just as he promised to do this week”.
