Group Presents Food Items to the Less Privileged in Asaba …. Pay Medical Bills of Patients

ASABA/Nigeria: Determined to alleviates the suffering of the less privileged , a non profit organisation, Umu-Ada Ndigbo in diaspora, has presented food items for women from the South East and South South geopolitical zones of the country, saying the gesture was her little way of improving the lots of women folks.

The leader of the group, Chief Mrs. Adaozo Nonyelum Grace Agude, said the Umu-Ada Ndigbo in diaspora is a non governmental organisation mainly of Igbo women in the United States of America, with the vision of Igbo unity through the economic empowerment of the Igbo women across the states where the Igbo women are domiciled.

Presenting the items to Igbo women in Asaba, Delta State in a ceremony held at the conference hall of the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba Mrs Agude noted that the numerous socio-economic challenges in Nigeria informed the needs to reach out to Igbo women, noting that the Igbos has unique traditions and culture which they must preserved for the generation yet unborn.

According to her; “Ten years ago, God spoke to me to coordinate the Igbo women in the USA. Through group contributions we decided to support the women as a way of marking our tenth years anniversary. We are doing it not because we need your support but it is purely on humanitarian services. We are not political groups. We don’t want to forget our roots.”

In addition to the food items presented, the group also paid the medical bills of three surgical patients in the hospital, with a call on them to always keep faiths in God who is capable of answering their prayers.

In a brief remark, Dr. Emma Ezulum, the Head of Clinical Services, who represented the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Victor Atuma thanked the Umu-Ada Ndigbo in diaspora for their kind gestures, saying the best investment in life was to render selfless services and support of those who cannot afford to take care of themselves.

One of the patients whose medical bill was paid, Mrs. Faith Nnaji expressed appreciation to God for using the Umu-Ada Ndigbo in diaspora to answer her prayer, saying she will continue to pray for the survival of the group.

Earlier, the group had paid a courtesy visit to the Asagba of Asaba, where the monarch, represented by the Iyase of Asaba, Chief Patrick Onyeobi, commended the Umu-Ada Ndigbo in diaspora for remembering their roots.

“There is hardship in Nigeria and i am happy that your group deemed it fits to help the less privileged. There is the need to assist the young women in the areas of empowerment through soft loans and setting up of small scale industries.” The Asagba stated.
