ABUJA/Nigeria: The Concerned Nigerian For Democratic Governance has berated the Chairman of Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN) on his unguarded statement blaming the distinguished Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki for the invasion of the Senate by suspected thugs on Wednesday.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, the Chairman of Concerned Nigerian for Democratic Governance, Kelvin Adegbenga said it is becoming of Sagay calling distinguished Senators duly elected names.
“We are beginning to see Sagay as enemy of Democracy as his unguarded statements can truncate democracy if not called to order by his employer, President Buhari. His statement in recent times can provoke people to take laws into their own hands, if care is not taken”.
“We wish to warn Sagay that his unguarded statement will not stop the Senate from performing her constitutional duties.
“If Sagay sees making of Laws that is acceptable to majority of Nigerians as “making trouble with the Executive at the slightest opportunity, bringing the government to a standstill and then turning members of the Senate into puns who can be pushed here and there”, then Nigerians are pleased with every decision of the Red Chambers, Adegbenga said.
“Sagay rather has gone too far in inciting Nigerians against the institution of the Senate. We will not fold our hands while a man at departure lounge dictate our future, the statement concluded.
