EFFURUN/Nigeria: A popular civilian (vigilante) security operator, Alex Ohwofasa (aka Mexico) was allegedly kidnapped and killed by yet-to-be-identified gunmen along Airport Road Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area on Friday 16th September 2022.
It was gathered that Mexico, his wife, and his kid were guests at a party hosted by the son of a late popular Urhobo musician on that fateful day.
It was further gathered that the host of the party was sprayed lavishly in the naira by appreciative guests.
For security reasons, the host (a friend of Mexico) who was gathered decided to give the money which he was sprayed with to Mexico for safekeeping being a security guru.
However, it was alleged that Mexico, his wife, and his kid were waylaid on their way home along Airport Road Effurun by the men of the underworld.
The hoodlums were said to have however dumped the wife and kid of Mexico in Ekpan Uvwie Local Government Area, refusing to let go of their prime target from their web.
The whereabouts of Mexico and his captors were unknown till on Monday 19th September 2022 when the corpse of Mexico was found at the university community of Ugbomro Uvwie Local Government Area.
There was a conflicting initial report which stated that the said corpse was not that of abducted Mexico.
However, a source who pleaded anonymity insisted that the corpse was that of popular Mexico.
Efforts to confirm the intriguing incidents from the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Delta State Police Headquarters Asaba DSP Bright Edafe through calls and text messages were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
