WARRI/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has commended the Amaokosu of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Pere Monbene III, for what he described as his contributions to peace, unity and development during 11 years on the throne.
Guwor, who also chairs the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, gave the commendation in a message marking the monarch’s 11th coronation anniversary.
The Speaker said the period had been marked by efforts to promote peaceful relations among different ethnic communities within the kingdom and beyond, while also preserving the cultural identity of the Ogbe-Ijoh people.
According to Guwor, the traditional ruler’s approach to leadership has helped make the traditional institution a platform for promoting community development and peaceful coexistence.
He said the monarch’s influence extended beyond Ogbe-Ijoh, noting his advocacy for peace in the Niger Delta and his engagement on issues affecting the welfare and development of his people.
Guwor, who represents Warri South-West Constituency in the state Assembly, said the role of traditional rulers remained important in fostering dialogue and strengthening relationships among communities.
“As Speaker and Member Representing Warri South-West Constituency, I am proud of your contributions to peace-building and your consistent support for good governance in Delta State,” he said.
The Speaker also acknowledged the monarch’s role in promoting what he described as unity and mutual respect among people in the area.
Ogbe-Ijoh serves as the headquarters of Warri South-West Local Government Area, and Guwor said the community’s stability and development remained important to the wider constituency.
He expressed hope that the monarch would continue to provide leadership and counsel to his subjects, particularly in matters concerning peace and community development.
Guwor also wished Pere Monbene III continued strength and wisdom in the years ahead and prayed for his long life and good health.
He congratulated the people of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom on the anniversary and wished them a peaceful and successful celebration.
The 11th anniversary follows the monarch’s 10th coronation anniversary in 2025, when Guwor, representing Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, similarly highlighted the traditional ruler’s role in peace, unity and development.
