ASABA/Nigeria: The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on his emergence as a double award recipient at the Independent Newspapers awards ceremony held in Lagos.
Governor Oborevwori was honoured with the “Governor of the Year on Urban Renewal” and “Outstanding Governor of the Year,” recognitions that have continued to draw commendations from political leaders and stakeholders across the state.
In a statement issued in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, Guwor described the honours as well-deserved, noting that they underscore the Governor’s visionary leadership, commitment to infrastructural transformation, and people-focused governance.
The Speaker, speaking on behalf of his family, the people of Warri South West, and the Delta State House of Assembly, said the awards were a source of pride to Deltans and a clear validation of the administration’s policy direction.
“These awards are not just plaques; they represent a validation of the massive urban renewal drive, the ongoing road infrastructure revolution, and the deliberate human capital development initiatives that define the administration of His Excellency under the MORE Agenda,” Guwor stated.
He observed that the Governor’s urban renewal initiatives have left visible imprints across major cities and communities in the state, including Warri-Effurun, Asaba, Sapele, Ughelli, Ogbe-Ijoh, Agbor, Bomadi, Burutu, Okerenkoko, Koko, Ogidigben, Kwale, Obiaruku, Patani and Oghara, among others.
According to him, the projects have not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal of urban centres but have also improved traffic flow, stimulated economic activities, and elevated the standard of living of residents.
Guwor further noted that the “Outstanding Governor of the Year” award affirms Oborevwori’s inclusive leadership style, prudent management of resources, and sustained peaceful engagement with diverse interests across the state.
“His Excellency has demonstrated that governance is about impacting lives positively. The bridges, roads, drainage systems, flyovers, and the renewed public confidence in government are eloquent testimonies to his performance. As legislators, we are proud to be partners in this progress,” he added.
The Speaker assured the Governor of the continued support and cooperation of the State Assembly in advancing policies and programmes aimed at delivering democratic dividends to all parts of Delta State.
He expressed optimism that the recognitions would further motivate the Governor to consolidate on his achievements, even as he prayed for divine wisdom, strength, and grace for him to sustain the development trajectory and finish strong.
