Guwor Mourns Uduaghan, Says Former Governor’s Experience Will Be Missed

ASABA/Nigeria: The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has joined other leaders in mourning former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, describing his death as a significant loss to the state and the country.

In a condolence statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, Guwor said the former governor’s experience in public administration and his counsel as an elder statesman would be missed, particularly by a state whose development he helped shape during eight years in office.

Guwor, who also chairs the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, said Uduaghan’s tenure contributed to Delta State’s political and developmental history, noting that his policies and leadership had affected the lives of many residents.

The Speaker extended condolences on behalf of his family, the people of Warri South-West Constituency and the Delta State House of Assembly to Uduaghan’s wife, Roli, his children, the wider Uduaghan family, friends and political associates.

He urged the bereaved family and others mourning the former governor to draw comfort from his years of public service and the contributions he made to the state.

Guwor also acknowledged Uduaghan’s record in public administration, which included serving as Commissioner for Health from 1999 to 2003 and Secretary to the State Government from 2003 to 2007 before becoming governor in 2007.

Uduaghan governed Delta State for two terms, leaving office on May 29, 2015, when his successor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, was sworn in.

The Speaker prayed that God would grant the former governor eternal rest and give his family, loved ones and the people of Delta State the strength to bear the loss.
