ASABA/Nigeria: The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has applauded his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, for what he described as remarkable dedication, hard work, and commitment to duty. Guwor gave the commendation on Friday at the Assembly Complex in Asaba during a press briefing to kick off activities marking the second anniversary of the 8th Assembly.
Addressing a large gathering of journalists from various media organisations, Guwor highlighted the significant contributions of his CPS to the smooth operations and visibility of the Assembly. He described Nwaeke as a trusted and diligent ally whose efforts have greatly supported the Office of the Speaker and the Assembly at large.
“To my Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, you have been a wonderful ally and I want to commend you for your hard work and dedication to assigned duties. It’s been great having you around and working with you as my CPS. I encourage you to keep up the good work,” the Speaker said.
Guwor extended his appreciation to members of the media, particularly those covering the activities of the State Assembly, for ensuring that the work of the legislature reaches constituents across the state. He noted that the robust media coverage of debates, resolutions, and proceedings of the house had enhanced public access to legislative activities.
“Gentlemen of the press, I cannot thank the media enough for always giving visibility to the activities of the House through the network of your various mediums. You make our work easy and we must continue to appreciate you for the support,” Guwor stated, assuring that the House would continue to partner with the media in advancing good governance.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, Comrade Churchill Oyovwe, commended Speaker Guwor and the leadership of the Assembly for maintaining legislative vibrancy and an open-door policy that has fostered cordial relations with the press.
Oyovwe also praised Mr. Nwaeke for his professionalism and team spirit, noting that the CPS works tirelessly to ensure effective reportage of the activities of the Speaker and the Assembly. He however appealed for improved welfare for journalists covering the Assembly, to further motivate and support their efforts.
