ASABA/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated Nigeria’s Super Falcons for their dramatic comeback victory over hosts Morocco to clinch a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
Guwor, in a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, said he was filled with joy and pride as the Nigerian women’s team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to seal a 3-2 win in a pulsating final.
He praised the team’s resilience, determination, and teamwork, which he described as the driving force behind the historic triumph. “Your unwavering spirit on the field has once again brought glory to our country,” the Speaker said.
As National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria and an avid footballer himself, Guwor lauded the Super Falcons for their skill, passion, and strength, which he said reflect the true character of Nigerian women.
“This victory is not only a celebration of your talent but a symbol of what Nigerian women can achieve with dedication and belief,” he stated.
Guwor also extended commendations to the team’s coach, technical crew, and players for their hard work, sacrifices, and commitment to excellence, adding that their efforts have ignited national pride.
Describing the win as a beacon of hope and inspiration, the Speaker said the Super Falcons’ success underscores the transformative power of sports in promoting gender equality and empowerment.
He urged young girls across Nigeria to draw strength from the team’s feat and pursue their dreams without fear. “May this victory spark a new generation of footballers and drive the growth of women’s sports in Nigeria,” he added.
