Herdsmen Attack: We Understand Your Pains, Nkechi Chukwurah to Osissa People

Aboh: The people of Osissa and the entire communities of Ndokwa East has been called to remain calm as the government is doing all in her power to find a lasting solution to the activities of the cattle herdsmen in the LGA.img-20161024-wa0053

The call was made by the Executive Chairman of the LGA, Mrs. Nkechi Chukwurah in a telephone interview with Ndokwa Reporters on Tuesday, 25 October 2016 on the activities of the cattle herdsmen in the area.

According to the LGA chairman, the activities of the herdsmen on the lives of the Ndokwa East citizens had been terrible and it calls for concern from all to see that their activities does not hinge on the right of others.

Mrs. Chukwurah, while condemning the recent attack on the people of Osissa, which resulted in the injury of five persons from both sides, appealed to the people of the community to remain calm because they know their pains.

“We know their pains. We know their feelings. We know they are being deprived from their economic activities, because of fear, and attacks, rapes of their women and girls”. She said.

Speaking further, she said that a meeting will be held on the issue with all party concerned, including the security operatives, and it is expected that the meeting will find a lasting solution to the problem

“I know that many of the communities in Ndokwa East want them out, but first let us dialogue and from such dialogue we hope to find a way to enforce the outcome of the meeting, but before then, all should remain calm”.

It can be recalled that on Saturday 22 of October, 2016, crises erupted between the Osissa community and the herdsmen resulting in injuries on one person from Osissa community and four from the herdsmen. And on 24 October, 2016, the people of Osissa community took to protest, against the activities of the herdsman, resulting to the blocking of the ever busy Ughelli-Asaba road, which affected the movement of the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Hon Ovie Agas, who used the opportunity to address them to remain calm, while the government try to find solution to the clashes.
