How Ndokwa East Distributed DTSG Lockdown Palliatives-Chairman

ABOH/Nigeria: The Chairman of Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Hon Juan Governor had released the distribution of the Lockdown palliatives given to the area by the state government.

In a Press Release made available to www.ndokwareporters.com, the chairman while admonishing the people to continue to observe the necessary medical precautionary measures to avoid the spread of the Coronavirus disease, gave account of the quantity of food items received from the Delta State Food Bank, and how and who it was given in line with the directive of the state Governor, senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

The Press Release which was signed by the Chairman, Hon Juan Governor, dated April 20, 2020, stated the total number of food items and when it arrived the area, and how they were shared to the 10 Federal wards in the local government area.

It stated that the committee received a total of 630 cartons of mixed noddles and 400 bags of rice packaged in several kgs (1,000 of 5kg bagged rice, 500 of 10 kg bagged rice and 390 of 25 kg bagged rice), and  200 of 100kg bags of beans.

From this quantity, the 10 wards received an average of ,63 cartons of noddles per ward,100 bags of 5Kg bagged rice per ward, 50 bags of 10Kg bagged rice per ward,39 bags of 25kg bagged rice per ward, and 20 bags each per ward of beans.

The chairman stated that the primary targets for the palliative was the following groups of persons, The aged above 70 years old, the physically challenged persons, Widows without a means of livelihood, Widowers without a means of livelihood, Destitute that resulted from poverty, Abandoned parents, Abandoned kids/ orphans, Retired persons with evidence of poverty, Bedridden persons with difficulties in fending for themselves, Homes with visible difficulties in fending for their kids.

It pointed out that the “ward committees can also consider any group that is not captured but are equally vulnerable, indigents or less privileged.”

It stated that apart from the food from the state government, the local government, in conjunction with legislative arm, raised some amount of money to be shared to some selected person who are further considered most vulnerable in the area.

The chairman while thanking the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, thank individuals and bodies that had been in the forfront to help the people since the beginning of the lockdown, as he appealed to them to continue with their assistants.

“We are still appealing to our sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers, friends and relatives from all works of life to please support the state in anyway we can to continue to offer assistance and donations of palliative items to reduce the suffering of our people in this trying period.”

It can be recalled that in an earlier publication by www.ndokwareporters.com, the chairman, Hon Juan Governor stated that the sharing of the palliative packages will not be political, as all the targeted groups will be accommodated.
