WARRI/Nigeria: The enormous skills development programs like STEP, YAGEP, PPSP, Tractorisation, Agro development, by the Delta State Government has been described as one of the most elaborate in Nigeria, as its objectives of wealth creation, diversifying of the economy and peace building cannot be overemphasised.
Popular Lagos businessman and economist Olorogun Goddie Ibru made the commendation during the inauguration and public presentation of the Urhobo Economic Development foundation UEDF, urging that the foundation should do well to partner with the Delta state government on skills and entrepreneurship development and micro credit programmes to enhance their effectiveness in the eight local government areas.
According to Ibru, part of the solution to solving the unemployment situation in Nigeria is by introducing markets friendly economic policies that will bring direct investments by both local and foreign investors.
“It must be admitted that indeed the US$20 billion Ogidigben gas city project represents a major opportunity to create thousands of jobs, if only host Community wrangling and bureaucratic bottlenecks can be expeditiously resolved.”
Other eminent Urhobo sons and daughters who also canvassed for entrepreneurial development to bridge the unemployment gap at the UEDF Inauguration in Effurun included; former Deputy Governor Prof Amos Utuama, Prof G.G Darah, Chief Love Ojakovo, Hon Joyce Overah amongst others.
High point of the event was during the presentation of award to the governor who was represented by Hon Joyce Overah and other notable personalities.
