ABUJA/Nigeria: A governorship aspirant in the August 28 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Anambra primary election, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba has rejected the outcome of the exercise and resolved to head to court to seek redress.
Ifeanyi Ubah Uba who is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil, faulted the conduct of the exercise, stressing that the winner, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, was in the first instance, not qualified to contest the election as he was only granted a provisional waiver as at the time of the primary.
Uba, who had earlier contested the Anambra governorship election about fours years ago on the platform of the Labour Party, equally said the delegates list used for the PDP primary election was different from the certified true copy he obtained from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The media mogul, who stated this yesterday while speaking with journalists in Abuja, pointed out that he had exhausted all the internal mechanisms available for conflict resolution in the party without success, saying he’s therefore left with no option but to head to court.
“The unlawful process that took place on the 28th of August, 2017 in the guise of primary election has not only jettisoned the appropriate electoral college, it has also jettisoned the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, the Electoral Act 2010, the Constitution of the PDP 2012 and the PDP Electoral Guidelines as amended.
“It is a total illegality, nullity, sham and an insult to the sensibilities of every faithful PDP member nationwide, right-thinking Anambrarian and by extension, all Nigerians.
“In the quest for justice, I submit myself to fight this illegality and injustice for my sake as well as that of anyone who aspires to contest under the party’s platform and I hope that justice will prevail in the end.
“I will, in subsequent media chats and as things unfold, reveal more information on the sham and complete illegality that was tagged a primary election conducted by the PDP”, he said.
