ABUJA/Nigeria: The Igbo Community Association FCT has announced plans to hold a solemn national prayer session titled “Ekpere Nmepe Aho” as part of efforts to seek divine intervention for peace, equity and progress in Nigeria.

The prayer session, scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Old Parade Grounds, Garki, Abuja, is expected to commence at 2pm and will bring together Nigerians from different backgrounds to intercede for the nation amid prevailing socio-economic and governance challenges.

In a statement signed by the President General of the association, Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, and the Secretary General, Emmanuel Chinwoke Onah, the group said the initiative was born out of the need to seek God’s guidance and wisdom for Nigeria’s leaders, institutions and citizens at a critical period in the nation’s history.

According to the association, the prayer gathering is aimed at uniting people of goodwill to collectively ask for God’s blessings on Nigeria, stressing that prayer remains a powerful instrument for national healing and transformation.

The group outlined key prayer points for the session to include an end to marginalisation and inequitable distribution of resources, the eradication of corruption, nepotism and governance failures, and the enthronement of wisdom, integrity and transparency in leadership.

Other focus areas include prayers for peace, security and stability across all regions of the country, as well as economic growth, prosperity and improved livelihoods for Nigerians.

The association noted that the event is open to all Nigerians irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliations, adding that the choice of a central public venue in Abuja underscores its commitment to national unity and collective responsibility.

Reaffirming its belief in the power of prayer to inspire positive change, the Igbo Community Association FCT urged Nigerians to turn out in large numbers to pray for a brighter, more just and prosperous future for the country.
