The Senator Representing Delta North Senatorial District at the Nigeria Senate and Chairman Senate Committee on NDDC and Niger Delta Affairs Chief Barr Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi have returned to his home town Ibusa after his bail.

We recall that the Economic and Financial Crime Commission had on Wednesday the 25th of April, 2018, arraigned Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi alongside two firms on two counts charges bordering on conspiracy and money laundering. The firms listed as second and third defendants respectively, are Golden Touch Construction Project Limited and Suiming Electricals Limited.

The EFCC in the charges claimed that Peter Nwaoboshi and Golden Touch Construction Project Limited purchased a property known as Guinea House, located at Marine Road, Apapa, Lagos for N805m between May and June 2014. They also claimed that N322m out of the N805m, which Nwaoboshi and the firm paid for the property, was part of proceeds of “an unlawful act, to wit: fraud.”

The Anti-Graft Agency alleged that the N322m was transferred to the vendor of the property on the order of Suiming Electricals Limited. The said Company was accused of aiding Nwaoboshi and Golden Touch Construction Project Limited to commit money laundering on or about May 14, 2014. The prosecution said the defendants acted contrary to sections 18(a) and15 (2)(d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011 and are liable to punishment under Section 15(3) of the same Act.

But upon their arraignment, the defendant pleaded not guilty and was subsequently granted bail on Friday the 27th day of April 2018.

However, Senator Nwaoboshi after fulfilling his bail conditions returned to his country home and on arrival into his home town Ibusa in Delta State, he was greeted with hundreds of Carnon gun salute by some community Chiefs, Elders and Youths who took to the street to celebrate the return of one of their distinguished High Chief, an illustrious son and a prominent personality in the Community who has done so well for the Community and the entire Anioma Nation as a whole.

Meanwhile, the Senator in his address expressed joy and gladness for the manner at which the people celebrated his release. He then appreciated his Ibusa and Anioma electorates both home and in diaspora who had showed concern and support for being there for him while he was in EFCC Custody.

While explaining his ordeal to his people. He refuted the rumour making round the media that he committed money Laundry offences and Looted public funds. He informed his people that all he did was that he “purchased Delta State Government Building in Apapa Lagos called Guinea House. A transaction that was well advertised, some Companies like Costain Nig Ltd bided and made their offers, while the Company I had interest in made an Offer of 805 million Naira for same building. At this point our offer is far above what other Companies bided. The State Government before sale advertised the sale of the said building in both minor and major dailies and all due processes were observed”, the lawmaker said.

Finally he urged his people to remain law abiding citizens and never to take laws into their hands but rather they should remain prayerful and committed to the cause of making Ibusa, Oshimili North LGA and Anioma as a whole a better place. He reaffirmed his resolve to continually give his people (ANIOMA NATION) more better, effective, efficient and result oriented representation in the Nigeria Senate. Stressing that no amount of intimidation, insults, name calling, arrest and allegation will renege his drive in giving Anioma people better representation.
